Commercial Exoskeleton That Protect The Lives of U.S. Soldiers in Combat

The DEVCOM Soldier Center, after a 2017 U.S. Army directive, looked to advance the performance and quality of commercial exoskeletons through third-party engineering and human factors analyses.

Boston Engineering performs the crucial role for DEVCOM by:

• Defining commercial products for military applications (e.g., move and maneuver, logistics support)
• Testing exoskeletons with soldiers in the field
• Collecting soldier input to map exoskeleton capabilities to soldier requirements 

As a result, the U.S Army:

• Requested enhancements from vendors based on the biomechanical and physiological data and soldier feedback gathered and analyzed by Boston Engineering
• Worked with industry and academia to accelerate innovative technologies like robotics
• Maintained U.S. military readiness and response and protect and save U.S. soldiers lives
